Columns to import

This topic contains information about the legacy Import/Export Manager, which is being phased out from GainSeeker Suite. It is still available for use in version 8.3, but is being replaced by the new Import/Export Data function in the GainSeeker Utility module.

Choose columns

Choose the columns you want to import from the Available Columns list and click Insert. The columns that appear in the Selected columns list will be the columns of data that will be exported.

To change the position that a column will appear, click on the column and click on the up or down arrows to reposition it. To remove a column from the Selected columns list, click on that column and then click Remove. It will then be moved back to the Available Columns list.

XML format

If you select XML on the first screen, a checkbox labeled Import/Export Notes is displayed below the Selected columns list. The checkbox defaults to checked in export mode, and defaults to checked in import mode when the XML file contains note elements.

Note: In import mode, for XML files, the Selected columns list defaults only to those columns for which the XML file contains elements.

Blank (missing) data values

Any non-numeric value found in a Data n column will be imported as a blank (missing) value, resulting in an incomplete subgroup.

When importing from *.CSV, *.QSV and *.TAB file types, this blank value will be placed at the end of the subgroup. When importing from the *.XML file type, the blank value is placed in its original position in the subgroup.

If it is important to maintain the position of blank values in the subgroup, use the *.XML file type, or use a template to import the data from your *.CSV, *.QSV or *.TAB file.
